Top 10 signs that a web hosting review site is biased at 2007-08-12 11:24:12
I think it’s fairly true to say that there is no such thing as a completely unbiased web host review. The reason is simple : we’re all human and we ‘feel’ for certain things or brands more than others. It’s completely natural behavior and that’s ok. However, the internet has given birth to a formidable breed of salesmen. They’re kinda like the Transformers : one minute a review expert and the next, wow, a salesman. Sadly, they don’t all ‘Roll Out’.
Top 10 signs that a web hosting review site is a salesman in disguise (and why this is bs) :
- Can’t find any actual reviews, only links to web hosts. (why is that host any good again?)
- Reviews are too short and incomplete. (how can he say it’s any good?)
- Reviewed hosts only have pros, no cons. (come on, nothing is perfect, we all know that)
- Reviewer overly glorifies the 99.99% uptime guarantee. (every host offers that and if you read the fine prints, you’ll see it shouldn’t be a factor in your choice)
- Reviewed plans are not up to date. (plans and prices change often, noticed?)
- Reviewed hosts are said to be voted by users but you can’t find where to vote. (ah… ghost voters right?)
- Ratings are given to web hosts but no explanations of how they are calculated. (how are the hosts rated?)
- Reviews are actually sales pitch taken from the hosts websites. (you call that a review?)
- Information about web hosts is incorrect. Example : ‘this web host has been around for years’, when a web host is actually a new comer. (questionable credibility)
- Reviews are only price comparisons. (price truly doesn’t say everything)
